zombie pillow cases

finally! something to blog about. i've been kinda slacking in the crafting area. but only cause mika is keeping me super crazy busy lately.

i started working on these a few weeks ago, and finished them today. they are zombie pillow cases i made for my husbands christmas gift. i used sublime stitching's vital organs and the zombies and monsters patterns.i wanted to make something for him that i knew he would use. i'm really happy with how they turned out. and i really hope i can keep myself from showing him these.

just a few thing's i've been working on. finally finished my granny square scarf. i'm really happy with the way it turned out.
it took me forever to learn to connect them as you go, but i got it now. :) this scarf has 15 granny squares in it. i used the two yellow colors cause its what i have laying around. i'm trying to use up what i have before buying anything new.

i made these onesies for my cousin's baby shower. i used some sublime stitching patterns. my favorite is the owl.

and this i made for myself on a shirt. i used an urban threads pattern.

i haven't been crafting as much as i would like to lately. i need to work on that. but i have made a few things lately. i finally learned how to crochet a granny square! i don't know why it was so hard for me, but every time i tried before they ended up looking like circles instead of squares.

i'm thinking of making a few more so i can attach them to make a scarf.

i started working on this dress for mika, but i got kinda bored with it.

i've used this same image before on another dress for her, but she out grew it. i really need to get some ink for my printer so i can get some new designs. i'm not sure if i'm gonna finish it. this one is more detailed that the other one was. i'm about halfway done with it, so i guess i might as well. i'm just not sure how to go about filling the face in. should i embroider the eyes and mouth and then fill the spaces in? what do you guys think?

a long while since i've posted. i don't know why but i just haven't felt like doing much lately. i guess mika is wearing me out.

these are a few things i've been working on in the past few months.

a strawberry shortcake pillow for mika. i'm pretty happy with how this turned out.

and this was an attempt at crocheting a dress.
mika is happy with it, but i think i might unravel and start over on this one. the top black part looks fine, but i guess i decreased too much towards the middle of the skirt part cause it looks like a toddler maternity top. haha.

you can really tell in this picture.
oh well.

a hello kitty pillow. i love hello kitty . i really do. i took mika to toys r' us the other day, and i wanted to buy everyhting in the hello kitty isle. for myself.

i'm really happy with how the bow came out. i didn't want to just outline it cause it's kinda big, but i wan't sure how satin stitch would look over such a big space. but it worked. :)

for reals. lately that's all i've been working with. since i used up most of my stash on the button box and sign i made for casey, i went out and bought some more. and made all this.

nothing super fancy, but i like them. :) a few necklaces, four pairs of ear rings, and a few hair pins. my favorite is the pink and red necklace and daisy ear rings.

i know it's been forever since i've updated this. and i can't say i've been super busy doing anything other than potty training.lol. but we are making good progress. :)

this i just finished last night, i'd been working on it for a day or two.

my husband and a friend of his recently, like a month or so ago opened a restaurant together. and their business had been going pretty good. :) the place wasn't decorated at all, so they gave it a new paint job, and got some stuff to hang on the walls cause it had some pretty crappy dollar store framed pictures on the wall. he said he liked the botton covered box i made and asked if i could make something like that to hang on the wall of the restaurant. i'm pretty happy with it. i used green buttons to spell out the name of the restaurant cause the big sign for it outside on the building is green with white letters. and it matches! i win. haha.

and this is just a shirt i made for mika about a weeks or so ago.

she totally loves it. :)

yay for cute potholders!

i'd been working on this for a few days off and on and im glad to have it done. :)
i'm really happy with the way it turned out. i've been needing some new potholders for a while, so i decided to make one. i didn't really want buy anything new so i just used some stuff i had laying around already. the striped fabric came from an old pillow case i got from a thrift store. i've used it before to make a few alice in wonderland pillows.

and i had just enough left for two potholders, but i've only made this one so far.i think this fabric paired with the teapot pattern looks kinda vintage. and i like that. :) i got the teapot pattern on flickr. its an illustration by jacque davis. she has some really cute patterns, and i thought this one would be perfect for a potholder.

the pot holder is completely hand sewn. and that took many housr of work.lol. i even broke my needle sewing my bias tape on there. broke right in half. that's never happened to me before. but it was a really little thin one and i was sewing through a lot of layers.

and i finished my button box lid. well, it's been doen for a few weeks now, but i hadn't gotten around to posting it till now.

since i used up most of my button stash, now i have more room in the box for storing my crafts. :)

i've been working on this tote for a few weeks. i think i put the design on the bag maybe 3 weeks ago, and i did the stitching just in the past few days. i'm such a procrastinator sometimes. i was gonna add it to my etsy, but mika saw me making it and she was like "that's mine" and "for mika?". how could i tell her no? haha.

so that's why her hat and dress are yellow with yellow polka dots, because that's mika's favorite color. i just used back stitch and satin stitch for this bag. im really happy with how my satin stitch came out. cause those polka dots took forever to do. mika loves it. as soon as i was done, she took it around the house and put her favorite toys in it. :) i need to make her some more stuff. i haven't really lately. since she loves yellow so much, and all she wants to wear are yellow dresses, im thinking of getting some plain ones and stitchng some stuff on them for her. like alice or wall-e or eva.

it isn't much, but this was my entry for sublime stitching's tiny monogram pillow contest.
i'm sure i wasn't even close to winning, cause there were some really awesome entries. but it was a quick project and it was fun to make.

i know i haven't posted in a while. i've just been busy with mika trying to get her potty trained. i can't wait till its over.lol.

i've also been working on this apron for a week off and on. finally finished it a few days ago.
it's kinda like the other hello kitty one i made, but her clothes are different and in the other one i think she was holding just a spoon. i just added it to my etsy.

and i made these too.

these corn bobby pins are so cute! corn is my favorite veggie. :) i think i might add some of these to my etsy shop too.

i know it's an hour away, but im sure its already new years somewhere, right? im so ready for bed though. i actually fell asleep on the couch trying to wait up till midnight. but i got woke up my mika, who wanted some water. i guess i just had a long day. i got up a lot earlier than i usually do, and mika had me reading the same three books to her all day, and cooking in her little princess kitchen. haha.

i finished the cross stitch that i started yesterday. i haven't really had too much crafting time lately, so i was happy to work on this.

I added it to my etsy shop. :) i really liked the way it turned out.

well, im gonna go to bed now. i hope everyone is having a great new years eve and has an awesome new year!

i was reading a magazine, parents i think , and they had an article about popular children's books that are being made into movies. and where the wild things are was one of them. i used to love that book. i remember in music class, in elementary school, we got to play the music from the movie. haha. imdb says it is supposed to come out in october next year. and i've heard that the author is working with the film makers, so maybe the movie wont be too much different from the book. they had a few stills up from the movie, but it wouldn't let my copy the pictures. there was another link that had an article about it, and i got these pictures from it.

mika and i went to the elf night at one of the parks here last night. they have chirstmas lights up everywhere, in all the trees. its so pretty. and they have people dressed as elves(of course) and santa, and snowmen and stuff. mika really liked it. it was my first time going too. it was sooo crowed tho, but i expected that.
i like how this one turned out.

i couldn't get my flash to turn off. the only setting is has are flash, slow, and slow two. what ever that means.

and i finished the scarf i was working on. my first time knitting with two different yarns together.

its so soft. i wanna keep it. but im giving it as a gift. i wanna make another one, but i ran out of yarn. i hope i get a michaels or joann's gift card for christmas.haha.

i can't believe christmas is in less than two weeks. december has gone be fast. i've been finished with making everyone's gifts since like, july, so i've had some free time to do some chritsmas-y stuff with mika. i helped her make some ornaments for the tree. she loved it.
i had to help her with the glitter glue a little, but she decorated them all, and i just sewed them together.
princesses of course.

and we made a cake yesterday. mika loves cake, and she thought since we were making one, that it was a birthday cake. haha. i had to tell her that her birthday isn't for a few more months.haha.
i know its crooked on the plate, but it's really yummy! :)

i totally sold two thing in my etsy shop in the past few days. im excited. maybe i'll sell some more things soon.

i made these a while ago, but i hadn't gotten around to posting them until now. i just used some scraps of felt that i had left over from another project. i really like the way they turned out.

i made this one using one of andrea zuill's free patterns from her blog. this one is mika's favorite.

i really like the way my satin stitch turned out on these.i have a new love for hello kitty! shes so cute! mika has started to like her too. i guess i need to go get her some dvds or something. we are kinda limited on our cable channels, and im pretty sure the show doesn't come on anymore anyway.

this one is my favorite. i found an outline for the doll on google, anf made my own design up. i like the split stitch around her hair, it makes it look braided. :)

just added to my etsy. i got the little frames in a kit. it came with a kinda lame pattern, so i made these up for it instead.
i finished the hello kitty apron i was working on. its super cute. :)

a few new things

i haven't really updated in a while, cause i'd been sick for the past few weeks. but im finally feeling better. stupid florida weather changes.one day its 80 degrees, the next its in the 40s. and its winter! i've been working on a few thigs, but most of them arent finished. i started on a crocheted doll for mika, cause she saw one that i made and said she wanted one with a yellow dress. this one is looking a lot better than the first one i made. i was very limited on the colors because i wanted tyo use up the yarn i had before i bought more. so thats why she turned out like this:
i mean , thats not why it looks crappy, but why she has green hair and body.lol.
mika still likes it though.

but this one im trying to make look like belle, mikas favorite princess(cause she has a yellow dress) yellow is mika's favroite color. everything has to be yellow. and thats cool. cause im totally ok with her not being coverd in pink. here is my progress so far:

my first time using safety eyes. i think they look ok.
her hair took me like, 2 hours. and her face only looks flat because i forgot to get poly-fill. oops. im gonna get some tomorrow.
and her yellow dress. i mostly done with it. i didn't follow a patter for anything, im just kinda making it up as i go along, but its not too hard cause crocheting in the round is easy peasy. :)

ohh and i made a new banner for my etsy shop. im not the best at photoshoping stuff, and its not super fancy, but im happy with it. i aslo added a few new things to my etsy shop. well, not really new, i made them a while ago.

oh my goodness whiskers! i'm late i'm late i'm late! i can't help being inspired to make alice in wonderland stuff. especially since mika likes to watch it mulitple times a day. these are some things i've been working on in the past few weeks. this first one was in the last couple of days. i had to take a little break from crafting because my hands have been hurting. im not sure if its cause i've been doing too much, but they feel ok now.
i really like this one. i tried to use a couple different stitches, cause i usually just do back stitch.
and these im thinking of making into ornaments. they are really little, only about an inch or so tall.

alice in wonderland

i was looking around on imdb last night. i was bored, just looking up movies, and i decided to do a search for alice in wonderland, to see if there were any versions i hadn't seen yet. and on the page of title that came up, it said that there was going to be a new alice in wonderland movie coming out in 2010! and the director is tim burton! how pimptastic is that! if you wanna read about it, look here. im excited! and danny elfman is composing the soundtrack for it too! :) i know he works with tim burton a lot. he did the music for the nightmare before christmas, and he was jacks singing voice. imdb said that the movis is going to take place when alice is 19 years old, and not interested in marrying a rich boor. instead she falls back down the rabbit hole. she intervenes on behalf of the White Queen to regain the crown, falls in love with the Mad Hatter...and decides to return home with her newfound courage. i can't wait for it to come out. :)

so we ended up not going anywhere. casey was gonna use one of his dads time shares to go to atlanta, or orlando. but they said you had to be at least 28. and casey's only 23. so. maybe in 5 years.lol. but we just hung out here.had the craft fair and sevendust saturday. i onlt sold three things at the fair, which is better than nothing i guess. but i was hoping to do more. im thinking of trying to go to another one, but i don't know yet.

we took mika to the jr museum yesterday. well, it used to be called that then i was in elementary school. but now its the tallahassee museum of history and natural science. its pretty much the closet thing to a zoo we have here. it has monkeys (sometimes),wolfs, otters, bobcats, and bears, a few farm animals, some historic buildings and some other stuff.

ok im done for now. today is caseys last day off. not sure what we're doing today, but we are going to visit my dad later. because of caseys work schedule and me not driving we dont get to go over there much. but it'll be good cause mika can play with my little brother joey. he is six months younger than her. its kinda weird for me to have a little brother younger than my daughter. but at least they are close in age, and tehy can grow up together.lol.

i found these really cute baby frames the other day. and i've been wanting to stitch something to go in them. and i finally got around to doing it yesterday.

just some more stuff for the craft fair saturday. im excited. i just wish i wasn't gonna be by myself for 6 hours. a friend of mine was supposed to come with me, but she had to go out of town, and wont be back till like, monday i think. oh well. at least casey and i are going to sevendust after that. :) we've seen them the past two times they've been here. casey has been on vacation since yesterday. he gets 9 days off. and he needs it. he wasnts to go out of town for a few days next week. to orlando or atlanta. atlanta has the georgia aquarium. i've been wanting to go there . cause i heard its pretty awesome. im not sure if mika is too little for disney right now, i mean if we go now, i don't think she'll be old enough to remember it. i don't know. we'll figure it out i guess.

i made some more scarfs in the past few days. i've just been in a knitting mood. and thats all i know how to knit so far. lol.
the blue and white one i made using the wavy gravy pattern from the stitch and bitch book i have. my first time following a pattern. i think it turned out ok.

a few days ago while thrifting i came across this piece of cross stitching, and i bought it.

who gave that away, right? i'd so rather be crafting than be cleaning. my house isn't that bad, but it has been a while since i dusted. so i guess there probably are a few dust bunnies out there lurking around. i borrowed the bunnies from some of the subversive cross stitching by julie jackson. but i made them gray so they would look dusty. :)

after i made that i decided to take a little break from stitching. i learned how to knit about a year ago. and i made one scarf, but not anything since then. so i wanted to try it again. they arent anything fancy, but i made a few in the past couple of days.

i think i might make a few more. wal-mart has their bernat chunky yarn on sale ofr $1.50 a skein. :)

these are a few things i've made in the past few days. both are inspired by two of my favorite movies.

i really like how they turned out. i thought about adding them to my etsy, but i don't think i'll be adding any new stuff to it for a while. i haven't sold anything on there yet. and it's kinda discouraging, cause i've seen other people add stuff and have it sell so quickly. but i've only had it up for a few weeks. maybe i'm just being impatient.

i have been working on a lot of stuff though. im trying to make a lot for this craft fair im going to in a few weeks. a church here is having a fall festival/craft fair, and it's only $25 to rent a table. well see how it goes i guess.

im feeling good today. i woke up a few days ago with little cold. i think it was because of the weather change. it's finally starting to cool off down here. it's mostly in the low 80s high 70s. and its nice. but im feeling better. i hope it goes away all together before tuesday. cause i don't wanna be sick on my birthday. im gonna be 21. i don't really feel like it. like im getting older. being a mom has made me have to grow up. but sometimes i still feel like that 17 year old girl that got pregnant in high school. these past 3 years have gone by so fast. i can't believe mika is gonna be 3 years old in april already. it's crazy. anyway, these are some things i've been working on the past few days.

i didn't wanna get up this morning. i mean, i don't usually, but this morning especially. i was sleeping really good. and all comfy with casey. but mika was ready. in her room, in bed, talking. lol. so i go and get her, to get her dressed. but shes so picky now, all she'll wear is yellow. and she only has three yellow pieces of clothing. and i tried to tell her to wear something different today. not a good idea. big drama queen 2 year old freak out. "no pink! i want yellow!" fine. i guess. i just wish i didn't have to do laundry every other day. i guess i need to get her some new yellow clothes. but i must admit, she is realy cute in her yellow dresses.

that's what she does now when i say smile. :) and this is her halloween costume. i wanted to get it early, to make sure we got what she wanted. and she loves it. she looks all proud. haha.

i just finished this last night. im really proud of it. cuae when i started makignthe pattern, it wasn' t turning out so well, but i fixed it up as i was going along. it's for sale at my etsy store.

i don't know what it is but my ears have been bothering me for the past few days. i really hope i don't have an ear infection or something. not that i know what it would feel like to have one. i haven't been to the doctor since i had my daughter, over 2 years ago. so i don't have a regular one that i go to. and i really don't want to have to go through the process of looking one up and finding one that takes our insurance. maybe it'll go away on its own. soon. i've felt like this before and it went away.

and my heads been bothering me lately too. im sure it would have went away by now, but i don't like to take medicine. it really bothers me. maybe im a little ocd, but im really paranoid about taking medicine and having all of the bad side effects/reactions or overdosing like heroin bob. maybe i'll feel better when casey gets home. he always has this way of making my head aches go away. cause hes super awesome like that. i miss his face. and the freckle on his ear. and his nose. he has the best nose. i know that sounds kinda weird, but i have a thing about noses. it's like the first thing i notice about some one. when i was pregnant and we'd look at the ultrasounds and i'd always say mika had his nose, and hes like, you cant tell from that. and im like yes you can! cause i said so! and when she was born the first thing i noticed was that she did have his nose. most definitely. even his family said she had the rauschenberg nose.

these are some pictures i took our christmas tree last year. i slowed the shutter speed down so the pictures would turn out blurry. most people i've showed them to said they are kinda weird, but i really like them. and the way the lights look so different in each shot.

i started working on this shirt for my daughter last night. and i finished it today. it took a little longer than i expected, because i decided to outline everything in black so you could see the picture better. i wanted to make this because mika loves alice in wonder land, and i cant seem to find alice clothes anywhere. i know she'll like it. and probably want to wear it like her mermaid or princess dress for days at a time, and have a big fit when i have to take it off to wash it. :)

these are some stitchings i've done.i really like stitching alot. i didn't really get into it until i was pregnant. maybe the maternal feeling of making things for my baby kicked in. i don't know. but it's fun. :) the one on the bottom is of my daughter.i made it for my mom as a christmas gift. the mermaid i did from a sublime stitchings pattern. its on a onesie.and the fairy i did on a t-shirt, from a book of iron on patterns a friend gave me.

i made this tote bag a few days ago. i don't know how to use a sewing machine, so i had to do all the stitching by hand. that took all day...

i found some cool pictures of polaroid cameras and used transfer paper to iron the images on. and then i stitched them. i really like the way it turned out.

lately i've really been into crafting. made a few trips to michaels and had to drag myself outta there before i bought everything in the store. i love michaels. :) any way, i bought a couple of those grandmas grab bags, full of random buttons and vintage pieces. i've made a few things so far.
